I just watched one of the Presidential Ads (Fox showed it as a campaign ad that will air) that the two candidates have spent 2 billion $$ producing.
One in six Americans go to bed hungry and we as a Nation allow billions to be spent on trash campaign ads while Americans starve? What is wrong with this picture.
I won't tell you which candidate this ad is for - I'll let you guess.
So... here's the ad...
A young woman is describing what could be construed as a first sexual experience ....
"The first time you do it you should do it with a great guy -right?"
"A sensitive guy that will understand your needs"
I thought it was going to be a birth control commercial and then I realized that she is talking about first time voting -- this is a Presidential Campaign Ad??!!
What is the message that is being sent?
Young ladies line up and get your first sexual experience with the President? oops - we mean first voting experience we just want to describe it in terms related to sexual encounters.
He'll treat you right with sensitivity.
He'll understand your needs.
You'll feel it was so right for you as he moves on to the next young thing.
So young girls will watch this commercial giggle and get hot and supposedly go to the polls just aching to vote because they are doing it for the first time with the president
This is what 2 billion in campaign ads buys? I really think we need campaign reform.
It is a one-sided shallow portrayal of young women. They are sexual. Sexual is the only language they will understand. We must reach young women by equating voting with sex. Its such a shame, they won't understand economics, or worry about job creation, we just can't talk to them about that (it's over their heads). We can't do an intellectual commercial we have to reach them with sexual connotations.
Read it an weep.
